2020 Living Room Trends

Our favourite trends for this year will bring out your creative side, and allow you to experiment with the interior of your home.

  • Classic Blue

As Pantone’s 2020 colour of the year, classic blue is a reliable shade that can easily be adapted to suit your home. The associations with the colour blue are it’s dependability, the representation of a calm atmosphere, and as a colour you can rely on. Blue provides the perfect amount of contrast for interiors in modern and traditional style homes.

  • Botanical Prints

A natural element you should introduce to your rooms this year is the use of plant-based prints. Our current favourite is a soft tropic design. This can be achieved using palm prints as a fabric or wallpaper design. These bold patterns breathe new life into rooms and are a summer essential.

To compliment these botanical prints, we recommend potted plants inside your home, creating an indoor garden. Not only do house plants bring life to a room, they are also beneficial to your health, by purifying the air, and are proven to reduce stress.

  • Abstract

Inspired by expressionist artwork, abstract interior designs create a fun and playful atmosphere in your living room. These can be introduced by using bold geometric patterns and creative blocks of colour, a modern way to express personality. This unconventional design provides a bold, contemporary look, and turns your home into a gallery. Our colour palette recommendations are mustard, navy blue and pale reds.

  • Colour

Warm colours are suggested to replace neutrals this year, this allows more opportunity to be creative when designing your home. Walls, sofas, and cabinets can be transformed with the use of bold colours and create a heavy contemporary design to start the new decade. Be prepared to experiment with a variety of shades to find the look to suit your home.
